Warm welcome, friendly service (free apero and digestive drinks :-)) Pizzas are good quality: tasty, generous. A good restaurant opened on Sunday. |

It looks a lot like Schmidtstuebe in Wallisellen . . . . . The pizza is good (worth coming back), the location is quite to be in the city center. The service was not that good, we have got the wrong pizzas, we ordered the coffee and asked for the bill in oder to save time (needed to go to the cinema) but it took quite long and the bill did not arrive with the coffee. The plus are the olive, the "home made" bread and the digestivo, all offered. |

I'm a "former fan of da Nano" as well, that is, since 1-2 years I had almost stopped going there since I had the impression that the pizza wasn't that good any more. So now that it is run by a new staff, a try out is a must. The interior has been improved compared to da Nano, it is now more elegant and better lightened. We are unexpectedly offered an appetizer, probably still an after-effect of the recent opening, I wouldn't expect this to last forever, but indeed, very welcome, plus point. Then a very suspect sequence of events: that fantastic fresh bread, an excellent pizza basilea, and the offered digestive at the end of the dinner... I mean, I know this combination, this very exact combination, I only met it one place, but over and over again, and that was at the pizzeria Birch in Oerlikon. Would the pizza have been oval instead of round and served on a wooden plate, the match would have been perfect. This can't be a hazard! So what? Well it is good news actually, since I liked Birch's pizza, I even don't remember why we stopped going there (probably 'cause it's a bit... depressive? have a look at Birch's review to find out). Nico’s pizza is good, large, crispy, and tasty. The pizzeria is nice, roomy, bright and decently decorated. And the offered stuff is clearly a bonus! Of course we were wondering if this is only because they just opened, so we'll have to go back there for a second testing session soon. PS: I’m forgetting my tomato soup, I enjoyed that as well. |

On Friday, we decided to start the weekend with a pizza. We chose a freshly opened pizzeria in Wipkingen, located at the same place where a very good pizzeria (Da Nano) used to be years ago... The restaurant looks like an average pizzeria, with standard furniture, lights, paintings and tablewares. The overall feeling is not too Italian, too out of fashion or too glamour: it is a good mix, the right place where to eat a pizza with friends. On Friday evening only about half of the tables were occupied. Before odering food and drinks, the waiter brought us some olives, fresh cooked bread and some cups of Bellini. The appetizer was good, the perfect entry for a pizza. After the appetizer, I ordered a pizza Contadino, with eggs, onions and bacon. The pizza list was long, so making the choice was quite hard. The wait was not long, and the pizzas arrived right in time. The waiter was friendly and perfect for the place. The pizzas were big, well cooked and with the right amount of topping on top. The taste was great, with the right crispness and tasting really good. Most of the pizzas costed between 17 and 19 Francs, really cheap for Zürich. At the end of the meal, the waiter offered us one shot of flavored liqueur with herbs each one. This was a pleasant surprise ;-) A simple restaurant, with good food, good prices and lots of add-ons. |

Definitely better than the late Da Nano! Da Nano used to be one of my favorite places but over the last two years the quality went a bit down. The new owners did a very good job with the refresh of this small "classic" pizzeria. For the rest I agree with Ciaccia: big good quality pizza. Excellent service. The freebies were also nice, probably due to the recent opening, but your reviewers will come there in a couple months to verify. Stay tuned. |
