It it was not for the very narrow table and the too sweet panache (even when ordering a second, I explicitly asked for more beer... but still it did not happen, it was way too sweet) I would say that nothing can be said against this restaurant! Even on a busy evening the delicious pizzas were delivered within 15 minutes from the order. The size is good and the quality is amongst the best in ZH. Well done Scala. |

Without Pizzarating I probably would have never gone in there. But... I will go back :). It was packed but we were seated within 2min. Service was very nice, selection wonderful, Pizza was great! They serve the pizzas on wooden boards, that's nice :). Prices were high, as usual in Zurich :(, but worth it compared to other places. If there was one downside, it was the wine. We ordered "Hauswein", which I think an Italian restaurant should have. The wine we got was good, but to pricey for a "Hauswein". But still... might even go back tonight :)! |

I am honest: without the advice of pizzarating.ch I had never visit Scala: this is not exactly in the center of Zurich, and it is not strongly advertised. Seen from outside, Scala is ugly: it is placed closed to a big tram stop, and many streets are crossing there. But inside you can find a very warm -even if maybe too small- restaurant. Staff is gentle. We got a very nice place. The menu is kept to the essential: the choice is not enormous, but all standard pizzas are there. The first nice surprise you get when the pizza is served: pizzas are oval shaped and served on a wood dish. Pizzas are very tasty at scala, for sure among the best in town. I will come back for sure, at Scala. I spent there a couple of nice hours enjoing my pizza. | ||||||||||||||

I liked very much the pizza there, and the personal, too, are very affable, in fact I went there a bit late, but they said to me that I however could eat something, so I give them 5 stars :-D The choice of all is ample, in fact there is always a list of actuality too, this list change every month (I asked them) and go parallel with seaseons fruits and vegetables. The only negative point is that maybe the place in the restaurant is a bit small... Not to forget is the coffee!!! I'm italian, and I don't like every coffee, but it's very good there, naturally for the zurich standart!!! |

my favorite pizza place in zurich. i am italian and often i do not like the way pizza is cooked in switzerland: the crust is somewhat chewy, or has the wrong consistency. i like scala's pizza best among the ones i tried, although perhaps they do not always use the best quality of toppings. | ||||||||||||||

I've been to Scala on a rather busy night. The restaurant is cozy even tough a little noisy. The staff was kind and efficient and we got our pizzas in a very reasonable time. The choice of pizzas was appropriate, that is all usual pizza kind were there while exoticalities or abominations like Hawaii weren't (nobody seemed to complain about that). The pizza itself is served on an oval wooden platter. The toppings are excellent and the bread it's all right (personally I prefer it a little drier but it was definitely ok). The pizza could be a little larger but get a salad before it and you won't leave the restaurant hungry. The median pizza's prize is at 21 which (by Zurich standard) is also well acceptable. |

Eine angenehme Überraschung. Denn ich weiss vor vielen Jahren war ich schon mal in diesem Restaurant, aber seitdem hat sich ziemlich alles verändert (inklusive Name?) und glücklicherweise verbessert. Die Räumigkeiten sind nett, obwohl vielleicht etwas eng, und ständig voll, ungeachtet des Wochentags (aber selbstverständlich besonders am Wochenende). Irgendwie kriegten wir immer einen Tisch, aber wir hatten Glück und i.A. eine Reservation ist sehr empfehlenswert. Das Personal war stets sehr höflich und effizient und ich hatte den Eindruck, wir mussten nicht allzu lange auf unsere Pizza warten - vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass das Lokal vollgestopft war. Die Pizza selber kommt im sympathischen (obwohl etwas schwieriger zu bewältigenden...) ovalen Format auf Holzplatte, der Teig ist leicht, die Garnierung ist fein und im richtigen Ausmass, obwohl teilweise etwas... anonym. Und wenn man richtig Hunger hat, wird man möglicherweise nicht Satt. Aber alles in allem, ein sehr guter Restaurant, ich werde gern wieder gehen. |

sehr eng gestuhlt, kleiner raum. sehr gute pizza (oval auf holzteller), freundliche bedienung. raucher/nichtraucherzone. eher teuer. unbedingt reservieren. 2 oder 3 parkplätze vor der pizzeria, sehr gut erreichbar mit dem öv. | ||||||||||||||

Die Pizza war gut. Der Teig sehr dünn und knusprig, nicht übermässig schmackhaft. Die Beilagen frisch und gut aber vielleicht auch wieder etwas wenig schmackhaft. Personal war freundlich und haben uns einen Platz ohne Reservation gefunden. |

There must be some connection to the other restaurant known for its oval shaped pizzas but I definitely liked this one better. I had pizza prosciutto (it was just "standard" ham, no fancy italian cotto). Very crispy and fresh, the flavors were in perfect harmony. I gave the pizza only 4 of 5 because I thought it could have been a tad bigger. My advice is to take a starter first. The staff is very helpful. It can get very busy on a Friday night so you should either reserve a table or go after 8.30. Also important to note, there is free parking provided (only a couple of spaces but this is a big plus for me!). |

I just came back from Scala. A few people told me that this may be the best pizza in Zürich. That is a bold statement that I tend to hear more and more. But when the signal to noise ratio gets big, a test urges to be done. So there we were, entering on a Friday night, the relatively small restaurant. All tables are taken, the waiter arrives and as soon as he realize that we did not book a table, he tells us that we had to wait half an hour. But a few seconds later he looks around, tells us to wait a moment, goes and come back and tells us "in 5 minute you'll get a table". Either this page is becoming way to famous ;-) or we just were lucky. We sit, we get the card (the pizza choice is similar to "Cucine", and the pizzas are oval shaped like there: are the two restaurants related?), we chose the pizzas. We wait... wait... but nobody takes our order. Then we close the menus that we were still studying and immediately a waitress arrives and take the order. The long wait was just our fault. The pizzas are delivered after a short wait, the shape as said is oval and not very big. The taste is very good, it is crispy and correctly cooked. The ingredients (rucola, grana and crudo on mine) were of good quality. Thumbs up! Is it the best pizza in town? If for the 22.50 I paid for mine (ok, this is notoriously an expensive combo) the pizza would have been just a bit bigger, we would really have a pizza that competes with the big players. If you do not eat a lot or you normally take a salad before, you may even consider it a 5.5. I will settle for a 5. Nice restaurant, with friendly staff. A small tip: on weekend go there at 20:30 or later -- when we entered at 20:00 it was full, when we left at 21:15 it was almost empty. |

I like this pizzeria. Good ambiance, friendly staff and quick service (but on phone booking). There are a lot tables, but if you are more than 6 persons, you should call in advance: the normal set up don't include long tables). The pizza are very tasty. It is one of the few pizzeria in Zurich with oval pizza. The menu has nice choice of pizza, with some unconventional but good mix of topics. Unfortunately, contrary of the best pizzeria in Zurich, the bakery and the pizzaiolo are not visible. A limoncino or a grappa is a must, and eventually the dessert in the near cake shop Gnädinger. |
