Comeback maybe...

I'm a returning customer (and big fan) of this place but I think for the first time I had a "bad trip".
There wasn't enough sauce on the pizza and the crust was left too wide. It was very dry. It was so hard that I cut my mouth :)
On the way out I noticed they had a new pizza guy!! It was obviously his fault. I hope the manager reads this comment and does something about it.

Don't get me wrong, this is still the best place by far, but please bring back the old pizzaiolo :)

Comeback probably not
Following the advice of pizzarating, I went to this restaurant.

The place is nice, staff and service ok.

But the food was disappointing to say the least.

The pizza was terrible, they used a very poor cheese.

I also tried another plate, chicken breast with cheese which was not very good.

Maybe I was not lucky, but overall the food was not good at all.

Except the choice of the pizza that was a bit complex (I really did not know what to take, they all sound a bit strange when reading about them :-) specially if you do not look for the plain traditional ones). wow., everything was fantastic!

Ci ho messo diversi minuti a scegliere.

Nothing to add, the stay was really delightful.

One thing though: The restaurant is quite large and (due to it's quality) is popular. So today it was crowded and noisy. The quality of the food is not influenced by this nor is the speed of the service.

Make sure you reserve in advance.

Macht weiter so!!!!!!

"Quality" seems to be the motto of this restaurant. One can feel this throughout the whole meal.

Located about 1km from the Bern mainstation (a bus takes you there within 5 minutes), the restaurant has 2 seperate dining rooms, one clearer with more light, the other is in a dimmer-romantic style. Although we arrived 45 minutes earlier than the booking-time, the staff warmly welcomed us and immediately found us available seats in the lighter room. Since we preferred the "candle" atmosphere, we even asked to be moved and the waiter satisfied us without any problem.

Obviously, seafood is the specialty here. The big choice offered in the menu reminds me of these good restaurants along the canals in Milano. If I wasn't meant to try pizza, I would surely have ordered one of the pasta or risotto dishes since they look delicious.
The advantage of being sit close to the kitchen is you can see each and every dishes ordered by the other customers. I was quite surprised because most of them didn't order pizza. But I quickly understood why: most of what I could see looked definitely great.
I had a pizza with seafood and my friend had one with "steinpilze". Both were simply great. My pizza was generously furnished with fresh shrimps, clams, squids, mussels... Love the way these were cooked (the issue with seafood is not to over-cook them, they would shrink and turn dry). The "steinpilze" were high quality ones because they are clearly bigger than what you can usually get on pizzas. The pizza base is light and tasty.

Now, looking forwards to try the other dishes.

I agree. This is my favorite pizza in Switzerland. It's true they won some kind of best of Europe award.
Desserts are also very nice. Excellent service.
Only negative is lack of parking and I asked the owner once, he said the city wouldn't allow him to build parking spaces.

Probably the best pizza in Switzerland, the restaurant entered European Pizza championship in 2006/7 and won!

I go there at least 3 times a month, everytime the food there is very very good.

The Staff are charming and eager to make your visit memorable.

visitors from other cities and countries have all given very positive comments on their experience and the quality of the pizza

Open late in the evening and bening less than 1KM from the autobahn junction (30) means you could even stop over enroute to/from Geneva/Lausanne for a wonderful pizza.

There is no car parking place, but one can park in th einsel parking across the street which costs about 3 francs for the duration of the meal.
